A Lesson in Linguistics

7 04 2010

I am currently sitting in a warm office trying to keep my eyes open after a long journey to Goma in eastern DR Congo. I enjoy visiting the Hekima microfinance institution, (see their Kiva profile), the staff are full of energy and ideas and they are doing an excellent job. The organization is headed by a young Congolese guy and he is doing amazing things. I do have one problem though, I do not speak French.

So, most of the meeting, I sat listened and tried to understand what was going on! I think I got there eventually, between a mixture of google translate, swahili and Franglish.
