Social Justice

16 09 2010

Bridgeway Community Church has a daily one hour slot on WAVA 105.1 radio. Yesterdays discussion was about Social Justice and that got me thinking.

I once was talking to a Black American friend of mine who stated that African American Churches were built on Social Justice. I couldn’t see it, so I asked him to explain. Everything he was suggesting was based on Racial Justice and not on the broader concept of ‘Social Justice’.

Unfortunately, I can see why for African Americans that has been about Racial Justice in the past. I do still think there is a lot of work to do still on Racial Justice, and I am sure as we go forward all Churches will hear the call to Social Justice for all.

It is Christ like to help all people, regardless of race, reach their full potential.
